Even though Kartli is one of the biggest, the most central regions in Georgia, it still experiences severe poverty. It is also home to a number of large ethnic minorities. Since it's the most proximate region to the Capital, Kartli plays an important role in the country's economic development. And a fun fact: the name of the country in Georgian - Sakartvelo - is derived from the name of this region!

A total of 230 high school students have been identified as socially vulnerable with the help of their local schools in three locations: Tbilisi - the crammed, socioeconomically unequal capital, Khashuri and Kareli. They have already been equipped with laptops, connectivity, resources and training.

Our local partner Charte.ge is currently still working on identifying high school students in need from the Kareli municipality. Thanks to GiveInternet.org and Charte.ge donors, our teams are hoping to bring as many students online as possible during the pandemic.
