Connected

The Pankisi gorge is a dominantly Muslim region in Georgia, in the heart of Caucasus. Pankisi is home to the community of Kists of Chechen roots. As tensions rise between the Georgian government and the local community following anti-terror operations and local riots against the construction of a hydropower plant, connectivity and access to information, means of civic participation and education become vital.

Thanks to donations from BDO and KPMG and continuous support from monthly recurring donors of Charte.ge and GiveInternet.org, 19 high school students from the most underserved families have been equipped with Chromebooks, Internet access, a range of educational resources and the constant online mentorship of our local partner Charte.ge. The students have been deemed as socially vulnerable by social services. Click here for more photos.

To help our students navigate the Web safely, critically and efficiently, the Charte.ge team also organized fun training sessions on media literacy, financial literacy and online education!
