Achievement Stories
Some of our students have already changed the course of their lives thanks to the Internet, be it new passions, professions, or academic degrees. We add new stories monthly so check in for more stories on the magic of the Internet!
Marekhi got internet access exactly an year ago - when the world has stopped and got stuck in a limbo. Suddenly the internet became the only access to the external world and the mean to stay productive (and sane). Marekhi was graduating from high school at that time and without giveInternet.org her life would have been completely different - no possibility to attend the classes, to prepare for University entrance exams and to become a student. Suddenly all of her teachers became part of virtual reality alongside Khan academy and the only way to get to them was through the internet. And she diligently used this opportunity given to her - thanks to the internet, she is now a student.
Marekhi is a future architect. Alongside studying, the internet is a source of inspiration for her. She shares Goethe’s philosophy of seeing architecture as “a frozen music” and tries to get acquainted with as many “compositions” as possible, to travel - at least virtually and grow as a professional. Naturally, most of the materials she can read and learn from are in English, so Marekhi is actively studying English as well - sometimes through learning apps, sometimes by simply watching the movies in english.
She can’t imagine her life without the internet - moving to a new city is always hard, especially during the pandemic. In this complicated journey the Internet has become like a breath of fresh air for her - studies, relationships with classmates, professors, family, leisure time - everything has become virtual. Even very real and practical things - like workouts and healthy eating habits - are guided through the internet in Marekhi’s life.
