November 2024 - Monthly Update

Hi there,

Thank you for your interest in our mission. With the support of our community, in November, 40 new students joined our program, gaining access to laptops and internet connectivity. These students are stepping into a world of possibilities—learning, growing, and building skills that will shape their futures.

By becoming a donor, you can help provide the resources our students need to stay connected and continue their learning journey.

Here's an update on the progress we've achieved as one community:

Say hello to our newest students from  Georgia, comming from villages in the conflict-affected region of Gori. We’re also sharing photos of five remarkable students we met during our October visit to Kenya. These students, who have sought refuge to escape violence and discrimination, are beginning their journey to learn software engineering and develop digital skills. Through our collaboration with RefCEA, an organization supporting LGBT+ refugees across East Africa, they are now equipped with laptops and are determined to achieve financial independence through freelancing and create safer, brighter futures for themselves.

Last month, we shared a video for Black Friday with a simple message: Instead of focusing on discounts and deals, we encouraged people to experience the joy of giving.

Our message was clear —  the same excitement you feel when finding a great deal can come from making a meaningful impact.

This Black Friday, we invited our community to skip the deals and sponsor internet access for a student through GiveInternet.org—turning shopping into an opportunity to create lasting change.

Meet Faith  — a determined student from Lodwar, Kenya, who is pursuing her dream of becoming a full-stack developer with the help of a laptop and internet access. She attended a course offered by our partner organization, Learning Lions.

On our social media, we share a variety of content!

Check out our latest videos:

  • The first is an educational piece on spotting propaganda, where Cyber Queen unveils the sneaky tactics used to twist the truth.
  • The second features our volunteer ambassador, Paola Kassa — a visual artist and YouTube educator. She shares valuable advice on graphic design, building portfolios, pursuing a creative career, and much more. A huge thanks to Paola for supporting our mission!
