May Mon dreams of becoming a Business Analyst, but the 2021 coup in Myanmar and the pandemic interrupted her university plans. Refusing to give up on her education, she turned to online learning and earned a spot in the life-changing MIT Emerging Talent program. She is deeply motivated to help other youths in her rural community who face similar barriers to education. With her new laptop, May Mon can now code and access the resources she needs to succeed and share opportunities with the next generation.

Now, she is back in class and passionate about robotics, proudly building projects like her own weather station using Arduino. She plans to become an electrical engineer in the future. Stella is the firstborn in a family of seven, having only completed two years of college due to financial constraints. "I stumbled into coding while I was surfing the internet in a public cyber café, I was curious and I felt there is more I could do with computer, I was excited when I did a bit of coding and the result was amazing, I saw I could create appealing visuals using software, I did not have a laptop, but I used my phone to create digital and appealing visuals with Canva, Pixellab, figma etc. I have already gotten a scholarship from She Code Foundation (6 months Front End Development) course and Meta Front End Development on Coursera. I have already started studying with my phone." - she tells us.
