Technology Skills and Job Opportunities for Students from Informal Settlements, in partnership with Era92
In Uganda, economic challenges and limited infrastructure have impacted the education system and slowed the expansion of internet access across the country. This makes it difficult for young people, especially those living in refugee settlements and informal communities around Kampala, to access training and find stable work.
To address this, our partner, Era92Elevate, provides tuition-free courses in high-demand fields such as graphic design, computer science, web development, filmmaking, and photography. This training gives underserved youth the skills needed for today's job market. However, once the training is over, many students face a major difficulty: they cannot make progress or find employment because they lack digital resources.
GiveInternet.org partners with Era92Elevate to solve this problem. We provide trained students with personal laptops and reliable internet access. With these tools, future graphic designers, coders, and photographers can continue their learning, take on digital work, and turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods.
