Teaching Computer and Data Science to Refugee Students in 20+ Countries.
MIT Emerging Talent is an effort by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to create educational, professional, and entrepreneurial opportunities for talented individuals from vulnerable, underrepresented, or historically marginalized communities worldwide. The program builds upon the Refugee Action Hub (ReACT)’s work of creating global education-to-employment pathways for refugee and migrant communities.
Through this initiative, MIT brings its ideas and know-how to collaborations with educational innovators, offering digital learning courses, global networks, and career support. However, because this program is online, students cannot benefit from these opportunities without the right tools.
GiveInternet.org partners with MIT Emerging Talent to address this barrier. Once students from around the world are accepted into the program, we provide them with personal laptops wherever the maybe be - Venezuela, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Ukraine, Egypt or the US. This hardware allows them to attend classes, use MIT's resources, and successfully transition into the global workforce.
