Tech education for unemployed youth in Kisumu
LakeHub is a technology and social innovation hub based in Kisumu, Kenya, dedicated to empowering young people with the skills, networks, and opportunities needed for the digital economy.
LakeHub's flagship initiatives are the LakeHub Academy and Zone01 - a tuition-free software engineering programs that train young people in web development, cybersecurity, data engineering, blockchain technologies, and other in-demand skills. Lakehub uses a collaborative, peer-to-peer learning model that emphasizes problem-solving, practical experience, and real-world projects.
Since its launch, the program has graduated hundreds of young professionals and connected them with employment opportunities in the technology sector. LakeHub also supports entrepreneurship and innovation through incubation programs, hackathons, mentorship, and community events that help participants transform ideas into impactful ventures.
Through our partnership, GiveInternet.org provides laptops and internet scholarships to students who would otherwise be unable to access the technology required for their studies. With these tools, learners can complete their training, build professional skills, and launch careers that transform not only their own futures, but the communities around them.
